About Melanie
Melanie
Florence is an Aboriginal writer based in Toronto. She has seen her byline on everything from online dating
advice for men to a piece about not so perfect parenting, from an interview
with Meg Cabot to a review of an award-winning Aboriginal dance
performance. Her first YA
book, Jordin Tootoo: The highs and lows in the journey of the first
Inuit to play in the NHL was published by James Lorimer &
Company Ltd. Her second book, Canada
Apologizes: Native Residential Schools is being published by Formac
Publishing Company Ltd. and is set to be released in 2011. Melanie is Mom to Josh (7) and Taylor
(5) who remain unimpressed with her career because she’s not Robert Munsch.
